Next big thing is to make wonderful selection. While choosing a flower as a boutonniere, be sure that it should fit into the occasion. Simple white and red blooming flowers are for formal occasions; however on can wear more colorful and exotic combination for casual or less formal occasions. And of course, it should match with the clothes you are wearing. If still there will be doubt, then simple blooming white pocket square will be ok with it. Wearing a boutonniere with pocket square is good but don’t just mute its elegance by wearing white handkerchief as a pocket square. The next is to judge its duration. How long you are going to wear it and for how long a flower can blossom without heat and water. So, it is wise to consult an acknowledged florist.

1. Position it correctly

To look perfect, it is necessary to know correct position of a boutonniere. Place it in left lapel of your jacket. Flower should face upward position and stem should be downwards. The floral center should always be facing you and away from your date’s chest. However the greenery should be facing your front person.

2. Inserting the Pin

Now lift the lapel up for two inches. Now take the pin with another hand and stick it up through the back of the lapel into boutonniere’s stem. It will also keep the pin away from your date’s chest.

 

3. Secure the Pin

Once the pin is pushed into boutonniere’s stem secure it by angling it down to left. Gently push it down to avoid pinching. It is like sewing a stitch. It will hide the pin behind the lapel and flower will look streamlined.

4. Check the positioning of your boutonniere before leaving

Take a back step, look into mirror and confirm that boutonniere is directly facing up and securely pinned and correctly positioned. Now, you’re all set to leave.
